John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him, for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. ~ I’ve been thinking about this verse. The world cannot receive Truth because it cannot see truth. We never became Christians until Jesus became real to us. Someone had to show him to us by the way that they lived, by the way that they acted, and by the way that they loved. That person to me was my mom.
When I was in sin, she loved me. When I was hurt and broken she helped me and prayed for me. She never preached at me, never told me I was a sinner going to hell, she never condemned me even when I was in my darkest sin. She loved me regardless. And I found that anytime I was in a place of despair, a place of hardship, I would go to her because I knew that she would pray and that somehow things would be better. She was the example of Christ for me. How will the world believe if they don’t see, if they don’t have an example? What if not everyone has a mom like mine who was a true Christian? The world needs to see Jesus. The world needs to see that Jesus loves them. The world needs a place where they can go, a refuge to run to in the midst of the storm. But if we aren’t that example, how will they ever know?
God help us to be examples of Christ to a dying world. Help us not just talk the talk but live it, walk it, and be it! Let our lives reflect the TRUE nature of God, not what religion and fallen man have made you to be. Let us be bold and walk strong so that a dying world can see you and find hope in you in the midst of their storm. Let an awakening come to the church, this nation, and to the world.
