Psalm 103:2 Bless The Lord, o my soul, and forget not all his benefits. ~ There are benefits that God has given to those who are in covenant with him. We are reminded in this verse to be mindful of them so that we can be partakers of them. Out of our acknowledgement of those benefits, there should come a thankful heart because of the goodness of The Lord.
As you read the rest of this Psalm, David has listed some of the benefits that God bestowed upon his people in the OT. We are now under a new covenant, a much more glorious covenant and therefore greater benefits have been made available to us; an exceeding abundantly. As those in covenant with God, we are partakers of: Forgiveness of sins, healing of all our diseases, redemption from destruction and the curse, crowned with lovingkindness and tender mercies, our youth is renewed, and godly judgements executed on our behalf; the Lord is patient and kind with us, long suffering, and gracious towards us. These are just a few of the benefits made available to you as children of God. So today, think about all the good that God has done for you and let it give birth to a wellspring of praise in your heart.
