Hebrews 4:1 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. ~ Each one of us has the same promises, the same grace, the same power, the same faith, the same word of God made available to us but it’s up to us as individuals to believe the word of God and to mix faith with it. Without mixing our faith with what God says, it will not profit our lives and bring forth change. It’s not because one was given an inferior gospel than another.
The ineffectiveness of the gospel in our lives has nothing to do with God or his word but has everything to do with the one who hears. The Bible says that God has given every man the measure of faith. It is up to every man to use their faith and activate it with the word of God. If they choose not to, that is their choice, however they won’t see the life changing power that’s available through the word.
I was in a service one day with a minister who was well known for seeing great miracles, signs, and wonders in his meetings. Before the meeting I remembered thinking that I was going to hear some great revelation or some great secret that revealed why he was so successful. In that service, every single person was healed. After the service, I purchased several of his teaching CDs because I wanted to find out what this revelation was, what made him so successful in seeing the miraculous in his ministry. When I listened to his teachings, the thing I discovered was that it was the same gospel I had. It was the same exact word preached that I’ve heard preached and made available to me over the past 20 years of my life. The only difference between him seeing the manifestation of the miracles and me, was that he truly believed what the word said and he had mixed his faith with the promise. It was settled in his spirit that healing was purchased for every person through the atonement. He didn’t have any special favor with God or a secret gospel that no one else had. No, he preached Christ crucified, raised from the dead, and power in the name of Jesus.
Let’s activate the word of God in our lives by mixing our faith with his promises that it may profit us and that we being partakers of his divine nature may be changed into his image.
