Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. ~ During David’s journey to becoming king, he faced many battles. He not only had to hide from the current King who was hunting him down to kill him, but he also had to pursue an enemy who had taken his wives captive and destroyed everything that David had. But as David encouraged himself in The Lord, The Lord spoke to him to pursue his enemies, overtake them and recover all.
It was during his greatest battle, his greatest fight that God not only caused him to recover all that had been stolen but it was during that same time that God was birthing him into his prophetic destiny. Three days after recovering all, David learned of Saul’s death and was crowned as king. The awesome thing about David was that though Saul was against David and tried to kill him many times because of jealousy, David’s heart was never against Saul, the anointed of The Lord. When David heard of Saul’s death he didn’t rejoice, he mourned. David didn’t allow the hardships that he experienced due to another cause him to harden his heart or to become calloused towards him. David didn’t gloat in Saul’s death or in being crowned as king. David always kept his heart perfect and clean before The Lord. And because of that, God could trust David to be the kind of King God wanted to rule over his people and God blessed David and his seed after him.
As Christians, it’s very important for us to guard and protect our hearts in the midst of the battle. We have to guard ourselves and not give place to the devil through offense. We can ask God to create within us a clean heart and renew a right spirit in us. We don’t want our enemy to gain an advantage over us because our hearts are not right. Protect your heart, trust God and he will deliver you and bring you into the fullness of his prophetic purpose he has for your life.
