Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. ~ When we fall in love with someone, we are willing to do whatever it takes to spend time with them. We will stay up late, we will drive an hour just to see them, we will always look our best for them, and they consume our thoughts. We think that they are the best thing in the world. But unfortunately many times people over time let that love dwindle, they let the fires of passion go out and they begin to take the other person for granted. Sometimes we will even take the other person’s love for us for granted and treat it as common, many times leading to divorce. But what if we would protect our love for the other person? What if we would guard ourselves against attitudes and things that rob us of our passion? Divorce would be eradicated, families would be whole, and people would be happy.
Well it’s the same way with God. We need to protect our hearts and guard our love and passion for him. We need to make him a priority and protect our relationship with him. Do we seek him out of love or out of obligation? Do we seek him with intentions of finding him and expectations that he will come and sup with us? Or do we seek him to appease our conscious? Are we just going through religious exercises and ceremonies or are we seeking him because we truly want to and believe to have encounters with Him?
I pray today that we seek him out of a great desire and expectation to find him. I pray today that He brings us into encounters with Him that will cause our love for Him and our passion for the things of his kingdom to be ablaze in us. O God, make us raging fires that burn for you!
