Psalm 17:4 concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer. ~ One of the things that made David a great king was the fact that he had a heart after God and he allowed God’s word to govern his life. While reading this Psalm today, God began to speak to me about not allowing what man does (or say) cause me to move away from my faith and trust in what God says. It doesn’t matter the schemes of man or the enemy, it doesn’t matter what things look like on the surface, when we trust God he has a way of turning things around. He has a way to cause the things we are experiencing to work out for our good. David trusted in God’s love for him to bring him into the fullness of the things that God declared over his life. He prayed and asked God to keep him as the apple of his eye. David understood that he was loved and valued by God. He didn’t allow insecurities and fear govern him. He didn’t give fear and insecurities a voice. He purposed in his heart that his mouth would not transgress by the words that he spoke. He allowed what God said to govern how he lived, what he believed, and how he spoke.

Purpose in your heart today to put your confidence in what God has said about you and not what may be going on around you. Purpose in your heart today to only speak what God has spoken. Refuse to give doubt and unbelief, insecurities and fear a voice.
