I’ve been spending the last couple of days in Philippians 4. Paul teaches us how to navigate through life and see the God-said about your life come forth. In vs 1, he tells us to stand fast in The Lord. To be stationary, to persevere, to abide, to be unmoveable. It means to have confidence in the covenant that God has made with us. In vs 4 he says to rejoice in the Lord always. To be cheerful, having confidence that God is with you and the he cannot lie. Vs5 he tells us to let our moderation be known unto all men. To walk consistently in this world, despite how we feel or the things going on around us. Vs 6 he tells us to be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer. We are not to be anxious about anything going on around us. We need to walk consistently and keep our emotions in check. Vs 7 he tells us the result if we will heed the instruction given in vs 6. God’s peace will be the result and is the key of walking in this world. Vs 8 tells us what things to think on. This is key. As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. Our emotions, our bodies, and our words will align themselves with our thoughts. It’s very important what we think upon. Vs 9 instructs us to do the things that we’ve learned and seen. We must be doers of the word if we are ever going to come into the fullness of our identity in Christ. Vs11 we need to learn to be content no matter what season, what circumstance we find ourselves in. If we will follow the instruction of the verses before, this will enable us and empower us to be content in all things. We can also have confidence that no matter we may go through, God will use it to bring us to the expected end that he has for our lives, nothing wasted! Vs13 have confidence that no matter what comes your way, Christ will strengthen you and sustain you. He is bigger and greater than anything you will ever experience. He has overcome the world and through the faith that he authored, so can we! Vs 19 having confidence that no matter what need we might face, no matter what lack we encounter, if we will use our faith and trust God, he will fill that need. Emotional, physical, financial, relational…. He will do whatever is needed so that you are not deficient in anything.
