James 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them the love him? ~ This scripture reveals to us that we are the ones who determine if we will be chosen by God. God is not a respecter of persons and he doesn’t have favorites. The people God uses are people who have chosen to be poor of this world and rich in faith. This scripture is not talking about having money or material possessions. This scripture is talking about the amount of influence that the world has and that God has in your life. God is looking for a people who are not influenced or molded by the belief systems that are in this world. He is looking for a people who hold his word as absolute truth. He is looking for a people who are rich in faith, who have a deep confidence and conviction that God’s word is absolute truth and they allow God’s word to govern their lives and change them from the inside out.
Listen, we are heirs of his kingdom but as long as we remain as a child unlearned in the things of the kingdom, we will never walk in the power, the authority, and the royalty of who we really are. God needs for us to choose to no longer keep ourselves so attached to the world that we take on its identity. We need to be about our Father’s business so that when our time of showing comes we are prepared and ready. It’s no different than a man who has a business and a son that will be heir to that business. The father doesn’t give the reign of that company to his son until he has been prepared and has understanding how everything works and has the ability to do it. We choose to be chosen by the choices we make every day. We determine how much of God we want and how effective we want to be in the kingdom by the choices we make. If we choose the world, God will still love us but we will never come into the fullness of who we are destined to be.
