Luke 14:16-18 A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. And they all with one consent began to make excuse…. ~ This was a parable that Jesus used to speak to the people of a set time where God had prepared of his provision and preparation for his people. It was a set time where men could come unto the table prepared of God and receive of his goodness and provision for their lives. For man to respond to this set time, it meant that they would have to make a determination to make this time a priority in their lives. Many times in life, we get busy with our own agendas, our own plans, and our own lives that we fail to keep things in the right perspective and in the right priority. The enemy at times will strategically bring things to our lives to get us preoccupied so that when the Lord calls we won’t respond to his voice. We will dismiss it and say that we will do it later. But we have to come to the understanding that the timing is not up to us. The only thing up to us is if we determine to respond.
Many are called but few are chosen. Being chosen is not up to God, but up to us. We are the ones who determine if we will be ones chosen to sit at his table. When the servant was sent out, he bid many but they began to make excuses. The table was made available, the provision was made available, but the choice was given to man. Man determines if he will receive of God’s provision, not God. The choice is ours. Let us be about the Father’s business today. Let us have ears to hear and come partake of his provision. Let’s put away things that hinder us, distract us, and steal our time.
