Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. ~ God has a plan and purpose for each one of us. His plans for us are for good and not evil. They are plans to prosper us and to bring us to an expected end.
God is very deliberate and very purposeful concerning his plans for us yet I know multitudes upon multitudes of people who have never discovered their purpose for living. They have never come to know why they were born. Our lives are bigger than just existence. Our lives are for more than just accumulating stuff and getting a bigger house than our neighbors. Our lives are not just so that we can satisfy our own wants and desires. No, God has a specific purpose, a specific dream and plan for each one of us.
Through intimacy with God, we begin to discover why we were born. It’s through discovering him that we begin to understand who he is and who he has created us to be. Without knowing God, we will never know his heart towards us. Without knowing God, we will never discover the plans and purposes he has for our lives. We live in a nation where a large percentage of people have forsaken God and as a result of that, we see a nation who has lost her identity. We are being divided and destroyed by hate. Our children are being taken captive and imprisoned by heroin and other addictive drugs. Our women are being stolen away and forced into sex trafficking to satisfy men who are bound by a spirit of lust and perversion. The current state of this nation is because we are a people who have forsaken God and have forgotten that we were born with purpose. Ps 43:3 O send out thy light and thy truth; let them bring me into thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles. Without the truth of God’s word and the light of it, we will never fulfill destiny. For it’s by those that God will lead us, guide us, and direct us into the expected end he has for our lives. God’s expected end for us is not based on our economy, our government, or any other worldly power. Our expected end is solely based upon the word of God and our purposeful pursuit of him. If we don’t seek him, if we don’t allow him to lead us and govern our lives through his word, we will never come into the places he has prepared for us.
Today, let’s make a purposeful decision to follow after God and to allow him to bring us into the plans and purposes that he has for each and every one of us.
