Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh. ~ Luke 21 tells of the last days upon the earth. Jesus explains to his disciples the things that will befall men upon the earth. He also tells them in vs 9 that when they start to hear of these things to not be terrified for these things must come to pass. He tells of Nation (race) against Nation (race), kingdom against kingdom, wars, pestilence, earthquakes, and persecution of Christian and Jew; all of which have been in the headlines almost daily. These are the warning signs to the earth to prepare for the return of Christ.
We are no longer to live life as usual. We need to ensure that our eyes are lifted up and fixed on him. We need to prepare ourselves for his return. I think many of us live in a way where we don’t think Christ will return anytime in our generation. We have heard this for so long that we begin to fall asleep and begin to grow lukewarm in our pursuit of God and the things of his kingdom. But we as the people of God need to awaken ourselves. We need to become alert and prepared so that we are ready and so that we can help others get ready for his return. The Bible is very explicit in who will make it to heaven. It’s not enough just to say that you believe in Jesus. It’s not enough just to confess him as Lord. No, your life must bring forth works of repentance. You must bear fruit and take on the nature of God by spending time in his word and time in fellowship with him. If believing was enough, heaven would be filled with devils… They too believe that Jesus is the son God. The Bible says that they fear and tremble… Don’t be deceived. Christianity is more than a talk, it’s a walk in which every person will be held accountable. Let’s live lives that reveal that we have been with Jesus. They will know us by our fruit ~~ not by our words alone….
