1 John 2:10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. ~ As followers of Christ, we are required to love one another regardless if we are loved in return. When we stay in an attitude of love, it protects us from offences and snares of the enemy. One of the words that defines stumbling is a trap stick. The enemy will set snares and traps for us by tempting us to think evil of our brethren, to take offence towards them, and to think evil of them.
Jesus is our example that we are to follow. In Isaiah, it states that he was rejected and despised of men, but his response towards them was love. Each one of us will stand before the judgement seat of Christ and will be rewarded for what we’ve done, good or evil. We will be held accountable for how we lived this life on earth. We will not be held accountable for the actions of others or for the way they treated us. We can’t control if people love us, accept us, or are kind to us. We can only control how we treat them.
When we choose to love, we are walking in the light and not in darkness. We have been empowered by faith, grace, and God’s spirit to walk in love towards all men. Let’s set ourselves to walk in love regardless of what lies the enemy tries to feed us, regardless if man accepts us or not. We are accepted among the beloved, accepted by our Heavenly Father and at the end of the day, that’s really all that matters.
