2Peter 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. ~ I remember once when I was going through a battle, God gave me 1 John 5:4 where it says that whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is our victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. And I remember him counseling me that when we are born again, we have been given the power to be the sons of God and empowered with the victory. No matter what circumstances come up against us, we have the victory. But this victory is not without fight. It’s not without us contending for the faith.
I remember God telling me once that it is much easier to hold onto something than it is to try and get something back. It’s easier for us to stand and fight in the victory that God has given us than to allow it to be taken from us and us have to fight to try and get it back. So when the enemy tries to come in and steal things from me, I remind myself of this. I remember that it’s easier to fight now and hold onto what I have been given than to let him take it and try to get it back later.
Today, let’s be mindful of this and not allow the enemy to steal from us. Don’t allow weariness, laziness, passiveness steal from you in the midst of the battle. Don’t allow the lies of the devil cause you to forsake faith. Hold fast to what God has given to you and refuse to let it go. The battle is only for a season, the enemy will flee if you will stand fast in the Lord and contend for the faith. Refuse to go back to old prisons and bondages. Refuse to allow him to take your joy, your strength, or your victory! Your God is faithful and is fighting for you.
