Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. ~ This is God’s promise to us that as we make him a priority and we set pursuing him as a constant in our lives, we will come into encounters with him. Each one of us go through seasons of drought, seasons of wilderness places, seasons of challenge, all of which seeks to cause us to abort faith and our faithfulness to The Lord. But if we will purpose to stay the course regardless of how we feel, what it looks like, or how far away God seems to be, we will cause our roottriss to go deeper and give birth to greater intimate places with our Father.
One of the definitions for ‘find’ means to cause to come, cause to take hold on. When God sees our faithfulness and our commitment to pursue him regardless of the challenges we face, it will cause him to run towards us. It will bring us into encounters with him, places of life and vitality. One thing that will help us to stay faithful regardless of where we find ourselves is coming to the understanding that our God never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He doesn’t change based on our emotions, how we feel, or the seasons we are in. And if we will learn to keep our focus on him and not all the temporal things surrounding us, it will give birth to praise in the midst of the storm. If God delivered us yesterday, he will deliver us today and tomorrow! If God was merciful, compassionate, and forgiving towards us yesterday, he will be the same today, and tomorrow. He never changes! And because of that, we can give him praise in the midst of the storm, in the midst of the lion’s den, and in the midst of the fire – not just in the midst of blessing. So today, let’s think about his goodness and bring to our remembrance his faithfulness. Let’s refuse to allow the things we experience steal our lifestyle of faithfulness towards a faithful God.
