Deuteronomy 7:6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. ~ I was thinking about Israel and how they are a nation, chosen of God, birthed out of God’s will and desire through faith. They are a nation hated by the rest of the world who have experienced hatred, evil, and attacks from all angles. I then thought about Jesus, the beloved son of God who was sent to bring salvation, wholeness, and redemption to man from the power and effects of sin. He was a man who did good to all, wanted the best for all, and loved all, yet he was hated and rejected not only by the world but by those in his own house. He was despised and rejected, smitten of men yet his only response was love, mercy, compassion, and kindness.
The Bible says that the enemies of a man are those of his own house. If you are rejected, hated, and despised by those of your own house, know that you are not alone. You are in the best company of all time. The servant is not greater than his master, if they hated Jesus, they will hate you. But what we have to do is handle it the same way Jesus did, in prayer to the Heavenly Father. He spent time in his presence and allowing God to heal him, change him, and protect his heart. Isaiah said that Jesus was a man of many griefs and sorrows. Reading the accounts of his life, one would have never known that if it was written to reveal it. He didn’t wear his rejection. No, he gave it to God through prayer and put on the garment of praise. So my challenge to you today is that no matter what rejection you may be facing, what hurt you may be carrying, you can lay it down at the cross and allow God to make you whole. You are not alone!
