Isaiah 58:6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? ~ This scripture reveals God’s desire for man. He wants us free from bondages and addictions that the enemy places in our lives. He wants us free of heavy burdens that weigh us down and take our strength, joy, and life. He doesn’t want us oppressed, sick, or diseased. But unfortunately many of God’s people find themselves in these conditions all too often because of an adversary that seeks to steal, kill, and destroy.

God has given us a mighty weapon through fasting that has the power to break these things off of our lives and set us free. I was going through a very long dry season where I felt completely dead, complacent, and had no passion or desire to pursue God like I once had. So I decided one day that I was going to set myself on a fast and believe God to restore the joy of my salvation and to break complacency and tiredness off of my life. So I decided to do a 21 day fast where I didn’t eat any sugar, desserts, pop, or ice cream – which doesn’t sound like much – but I’m telling you, God has honored that fast. He has restored the joy of my salvation. He has filled me with passion and strength once again. — Embrace the things that God has made available to us to use for our good. When we respond to wisdom of God, he responds to us.
