Mark 8:23,25 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. ~ Sometimes God has to get us separated from friends, people, and familiar places to bring us to break through into new levels in life. Our carnal friendships and relationships can be a hindrance to us and keep us in places of limitation. They can keep us comfortable to the point that we settle for where we are and don’t press into more. We will stay in places of blindness, limitation, and lack because we are not being challenged and encouraged by those around us to believe for more. (Law of association, you will ultimately become what you associate with.)
Many times when God wants to take us into deeper places, he will call us out from among them to separate ourselves. But often times, we don’t answer the call because we don’t want to get out of our comfort zones. We love our blindness, places of limitation, and natural things more than Jesus. Notice in vs 26 Jesus tells the man who was once blind not to go back into the town. Jesus didn’t want him to go back to place, the relationships that he once had. Many friendships that we have in life are for seasons, very few are life friends. As we continue to pursue God on this journey, let us be open to hear the Lord and to be willing to give up those things which are required for us to break through into new levels in our lives. In the end, it will be worth it!
