Mark 8:35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it. ~ This verse is talking about 2 decisions that each born again Christian has to make on a daily basis. We have to choose to either live for ourselves, according to the lusts of the flesh, or we can choose to truly make Jesus Lord of our lives and allow his word to govern us.
When we are born again, we are no longer our own but have been bought with a price. We have made a decision in that moment, a lifetime decision to make Jesus Christ our Lord. We choose at that time to live for Him and to live according to his word. With that decision comes the supernatural power, strength, and grace to live according to that decision. There will still be times when we miss the mark and when we fail. That’s ok. The Lord is long suffering and his grace is sufficient.
If you feel that you’ve missed the mark (no matter how many times you’ve missed the same mark) don’t allow your flesh or the devil condemn you. Pick yourself back up, dust it off, and press forward. Our salvation isn’t based on us being perfect or hitting the mark all the time. It’s a matter of the heart and a sincerity to make Jesus Lord. We have an advocate, a faithful high priest who ever lives to make intercession for us. Thankful today for the grace of God and the blood of Jesus that was shed for me.
