Matthew 17:20-21 And Jesus said unto them, because of your unbelief; for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. ~ This is right after the disciples’ failed attempt to cast out the devil out of a man’s son. When alone with Jesus, the disciples asked why? Jesus’ response was because of unbelief.
I love that Jesus not only tells them why they couldn’t cast out the devil, but then he goes on to reveal unto them the potential of faith, how faith grows, and the remedy for their unbelief. Each one of us, if we are born again, has the potential to not only cast out devils but to speak to inanimate objects and they have to obey. When Jesus was here on Earth, he didn’t come as God but came as a man filled with the spirit of God (just like we are) to reveal unto us how a man approved of God is to walk in the earth-having power and authority, not limited to the things of this world. We have received the same spirit and the same like precious faith but unbelief rooted in our hearts and minds keeps our faith limited, not reaching its full potential. But we have the ability through prayer and fasting to eradicate unbelief so that our faith can prosper.
Jesus said that if we have faith as a grain of mustard seed, not the size of a grain of mustard seed. He was talking about the growth potential and characteristics of how that seed works. It starts out as being the smallest but then grows through persistence to being the larges of herbs. Our faith has that same growth potential. Our faith is meant to be used and activated so that it can grow and bring forth God’s kingdom in the earth.
I pray that through the word of God, God reveals unto us his desire and intent for the sons of God in this world. That we may grab a hold of his desire and bring forth his kingdom in the earth. Jesus didn’t just save us to take us to heaven. No, he saved us, left us here in the earth to bring forth his Kingdom Life Now! Activate your faith today. Believe God for something!!
